Dove release inadvisable

Hawks have come to the rescue of mourners at a crematorium plagued by aggressive seagulls.

The birds of prey were used to scare away gulls at Eastbourne crematorium after complaints that mourners were being dive-bombed as they left the chapel.

I was actually at a funeral at Eastbourne crematorium a few weeks ago. No sign of either hawks or seagulls I have to say. There were some lovely dragon flies though!

I guess the hawks were doing their job then, Jenny? Lurking just out of your line of sight…. Eastbourne was my first experience of the coffin ‘going down’ ( well half down) into a hole in the floor. Everyone filed out past it and seemed obliged to touch it as they went…
