Whisperer of the heart
Janne Parviainen is a Finnish artist. He is a painter of gritty urban subjects and of the forest. I think he’s fantastically good — I love his work. Janne is also a photographer and he has created a series of light paintings of skeletons. Why skeletons? Janne tells me: I use skeleton figures in my photos because they are visually very beautiful and they have so much storytelling power. It’s interesting to place such figures in everyday situations or into already very dramatic landscapes!
I am very grateful to Janne for letting me use some of his light paintings on this blog. They are all straight from the camera — no post-production. Please note that all of them are strictly copyright protected.

I sing the Body electric;
The armies of those I love engirth me, and I engirth them;
They will not let me off till I go with them, respond to them,
And discorrupt them, and charge them full with the charge of the Soul.
Wonderful images Charles!
Well, Vale, that’s genius. If you want to wash down Janne’s images with words, what better words than Whitman’s? The perfect accompaniment.
I have to confess it, I was beside myself with excitement when I found these light paintings and spent much of the day swapping emails with Janne in Finland – a very patient man with, thank goodness, better English than most English people.
Truly great stuff. Thank you Charles & Janne.
Incredible find. Thanks Charles… Do you think it’s a coincidence that when I clicked on this post the bulb on my desk lamp blew?
I think the odds are stacked against it being a coincidence, CB.
