I owe the mighty Gareth a lot. It was watching him lead a bunch of ordinary i.e. inexperienced and untrained and unconfident people into becoming a choir that could sing in public that got my partner and I into contacting Bangor Community Choir and getting involved. Oh thank you Evelyn – amen to that! Singing makes a place for mourners to feel what they need to feel, and there are so many different songs that can be used. Though we do come up against a sort of cultural conservatism that comes from nerves about wanting to do it right, do it properly. So they don’t want something unusual! But I feel it will, slowly, gain ground and spread.
