Rosie Grant. Rosie first became involved in funerals when her dying Mum told Rosie “she wanted and didn’t want certain things. We arranged a fantastic funeral for her. I laid her out, a friend made a coffin, we had her ceremony in a thatched barn followed by a woodland burial. I decided that I’d like to train and help other families say goodbye in creative ways, and trained with Peace Funerals, Sheffield (see separate review)”. When not burying people Rosie loves the outdoors, the theatre, dancing, living beside the Mersey and pottering in the garden with her cats, Stanley and Roxy.
Rosie works collaboratively with people, helping them to create a great send-off for their dead person and, often, care for their body, too. She comes over as someone who gets alongside you because that is exactly what she’s there for. A calm and gentle presence, a very good listener. A trained, part-time psychotherapist. Bright premises and unusually attractive colours.
Getting to know you matters, spending time with you, exploring what you want and how that can be achieved. Can get quite involved in ceremony planning, has a team of good secular celebrants on hand, and can guide you in creating and leading your own. Deep knowledge of natural burial and green issues. Can suggest many alternative venues for the ceremony. “We welcome unusual ideas and suggestions and do our best to make them a reality.”
Creativity is a hallmark. So is empowering you to take ownership of the funeral. Unusually qualified and experienced in consultancy to home funeralists. Regular appearances on BBC radio and in serious newspapers.
Making it happen and getting it right require failsafe admin and precision-engineered organisational skills. Rosie is a particularly nice and a most engaging person. Underneath the niceness there is real rigour. She gets it right.
Any decisions you take on engaging the services of a funeral director should be based on your views and research. You should not rely solely upon the views and opinions offered by us.

I would highly recommend Natural Endings funeral service, without a doubt. What sets this company apart is Rosie’s calm and gentle presence. From our first meeting, Rosie steered the whole process with her quiet professionalism and holistic approach taking us through the practicalities but was also very sensitive to our need to talk about Ian.
Rosie took the time to listen to us about the loss of Ian and never rushed us into making decisions, but instead offered helpful suggestions which made the funeral a very special time. The care and compassion also shown by her team of pallbearers on the day and Rosie’s attention in the days which followed, added to the experience of Ian having a good death, which was a great comfort to us. Many people also commented afterwards what a lovely day it was which has to be the ultimate compliment. Thank you again.

Rosie at Natural Endings was so very supportive. From first contact to the Service itself, my grief was understood. Whenever it’s my turn, the biggest compliment I can give is, I will be using Natural Endings. Such a personal service, much better than the big companies. A huge thankyou for everything.

My dad died a week before Christmas and we turned to the excellent funeral director, who’d taken care of my mum when she’d passed away three years before, only to discover he’d sold his business. We came across Natural Endings by chance really on the internet but we knew we wanted an independent funeral director in the Trafford area.
We were very fortunate in contacting Rosie who immediately impressed us with her responsiveness and organisational competence. When we met her, she had a manner which was reassuring, very sympathetic and kind, and gently supportive. My dad had specified that he wanted a no-frills Methodist service followed by cremation. Rosie’s organisation of all of this took all the pressure and anxiety away from us and she ensured that every detail we’d requested, especially the music, was just right.
At a difficult time, Rosie was like a family friend and we would recommend her, and the staff who support her, without reservation or hesitation. She is very understanding, caring and calm and her qualities ensured that Dad’s funeral went as well as we could have hoped.

We chose Natural Endings because we wanted our Mum to be taken care of by a female funeral director and we wanted a coffin made of natural materials. Rosie was wonderful. From the first time we contacted her she was kind and gentle. Throughout the whole process, she made us feel confident and at ease with all the practicalities. We changed our minds a lot about the type of funeral service we wanted and she accommodated us without any problem in all our requests. Even last minute requests were responded to and dealt with positively. We chose the cream wool coffin and if you can say a coffin looks beautiful, it did, with a posy of English flowers on top. Rosie and her pall bearers were professional, elegant and supportive on the day of the funeral. The men were gentle giants. They were all so sensitive with us and with our Mum. Supporting us as a family to carry our Mum in and out of church holding the coffin by the side handles.
The price of the funeral was extremely reasonable and we were given all the costs up front, no hidden or added on costs.
We would wholeheartedly recommend them.

My mum passed away three weeks ago. The Natural Death Centre suggested West Pennines Memorial Park and Natural Endings Funeral Services for a humanist burial and we could not have been happier with both. Rosie was helpful throughout the planning and delivery of the service and we were also looked after by the lovely couple at the burial site which is set in mature woodland with views of the pennines. Despite heavy rain throughout the service the feeling was one of celebration for her life as well as a sad farewell – but I could hear mum saying that the rain helps the flowers and trees to grow and this was what she would have wanted.

Thank you for the testimonial Rachel. The park is so beautiful even in the VERY heavy rain. I hope that your visits since have been soothing and you have enjoyed the bluebells.

Mum passed over four weeks ago. Natural Endings were wonderful, discrete, sensitive and obliging. Very efficient and kind Rosie was a delight to deal with during a time when we were in need of guidance through the process. Nothing was too much trouble and mums ‘celebration’ was very much family led but steered by Rosie and Ian. Strongly recommended.

Sadly I lost my dear gran just over a week ago. She had expressed a wish for a willow casket so we discussed the option with our local funeral director only to be totally shocked by the price. He mentioned quietly that you could get them cheaper elsewhere to which my mum recoiled in horror at having to organise/investigate such a thing. Afterwards I sat with my mum and offered to have a look for her (and arrange) and quickly stumbled upon the Natural Endings website. The willow caskets on offer were exactly the same as the ones the funeral director had shown us but over £300 cheaper!
I called Rosie to enquire and was straight away put at ease at just how easy the ordering process would be. Rosie took my details and those of the funeral director and she organised everything – all I had to do was pay. The coffin arrived with the funeral directors (in Gloucester) in less than 24 hours and I was updated by Rosie throughout regarding the delivery.
The funeral was yesterday and there were so many comments about the beautiful willow coffin adorned with flowers and I’m sure my gran would of been smiling about the lovely send off she had.
At the end of the day its only money but I was just so appalled at how you feel you have to do everything through the funeral directors when it can be such a simple process to order elsewhere. I would thoroughly recommend Rosie and Natural Endings to anyone and if we lived in the area would of used their funeral services too.

I would recommend Rosie and Natural Endings unreservedly. Even though I knew my mother was dying I still wasn’t prepared for the procedure of getting an undertaker and was therefore very relieved when I came across Rosie by internet search.
Mum died at home so from that initial contact with Rosie and her company I was put at ease and she talked me through the practicalities, this was a very personal service from beginning to end and was made so much easier to bear by the consideration shown by Rosie and her colleagues. Throughout there was no suggestion of commercialism but rather that the needs and feelings of the client were paramount.
