Charles Cowling

Siegfried’s funeral march from Götterdämerung spellbindingly conducted by Klaus Tennstedt. Warning: not suitable for modest, self-effacing dead people.

Great comments you’all.
Red hot, magnificent music.
From this none can doubt that we are indeed an ecstatic species.

It’s enough to wake the dead….I like turning the sound off and watching Klaus….and what’s that bloke doing with his trumpet at 6.18?
However I am being educated, as ever, on this blog-you subversive old so and so Charles…
Gotterdamerung
noun: Complete destruction of an institution, regime, order, etc.

I rest my case.

Good advice for Britain’s fast funeral culture, Belinda. Alternatively, site speakers outside the crem, down the drive, and start it playing as the hearse breasts the gates.

And if you have only a 20 minute crem slot, start it at 5.00 and fade at 6.50 for maximum dramatic effect and a memorable entrance!
