Funeral Director/s: Andy Carter and Sarah Stuart. Andy came to undertaking by way of administration and emergency services. Did his basic training with the Co-op. A great believer that “you are always learning.” Patently genuine, very personable, one of life’s nice guys. Loves what he does. When he’s not working his interests include Formula 1, rallying (he’s a navigator), curling up with a crime novel or relaxing in front of the television with his wife and the cats. Sarah is a mum of three and a trained civil celebrant, there for you if you want a non-religious or partially religious ceremony. Bright, airy premises with parking, up to date, with traditional touches. The Thomas Brothers name lives on; the last of the line, Cyril Thomas, handed the business on a few years ago.
Specific Gravity: Traditionalist: top hat, frock coat etc. But they’ll downgrade to something less formal if you like. Really nice fleet of cars and, Andy being something of a car nut, they’re as well turned out as can be.
What’s important? Finding out what every family wants, then getting it right for them. Andy is a big believer that every funeral is different. He means it, too. And he relishes a challenge!
What’s different? Andy and Sarah are especially proud of the way they stay in touch with their clients until they no longer need them. If you need to apply to the Social Fund for a Funeral Payment, they'll help you out with all those forms. They really are the sort of people who can’t do enough for you.
Services: Your call will be answered by Pam by day and by Andy or Sarah at night. The first person you meet will look after you throughout. Yes to home visit. Yes to coming in and washing and dressing the person who has died. Does not routinely recommend embalming but will happily arrange it for you. Very happy indeed to be a consultant to home funeralists. Same sex person to lay out the person who has died if you wish (Andy for males, Sarah for females). Experienced in the traditions and needs of most ethnic groups. Very good secular celebrants on his books. Willing to serve families elsewhere in Somerset and beyond.

Every aspect of the service provided by Andy for my mother’s funeral was perfect. We were impressed by the quiet authority in which Andy stopped the traffic at a busy junction so the funeral procession could stay together. My aunts particularly asked me to thank Andy and his team for the amazing service he provided throughout the day of the funeral.
