Funeral Director/s: Nigel Gillard. His daughter Corrinne runs the office. As a boy Nigel helped his grandfather dig graves. He worked in a foundry then moved on to be a milkman before returning to do what he loves best. He has been a funeral director for 7 years. He’s a very warm person with a real passion for what he does: “I love my job.” What does he love about it? “Helping people out.” True to his down-to-earth nature he likes to keep costs down wherever he can. His funeral home is bright and welcoming. Especially nice chapel of rest which feels more like a sitting room. When he’s not working, Nigel enjoys football and fishing.
Specific Gravity: Nigel meets you where you are and takes his cues from you. If it’s a full and formal funeral you want, he’ll dress traditionally. If you want him to wear something less formal, he’ll happily do that, too. Nicely turned out funeral fleet – and no charge for the limousine!
What’s important? Nigel believes in professionalism and training - getting it right - and that’s why Corrinne is studying for her Diploma in Funeral Directing. He is a very good listener and works very hard to get it right for you. He gets the details right and adds really nice touches. He cares, he really does, and it shows.
What’s different? “The sad thing about this business,” says Nigel, “is that it’s becoming too money oriented. I’m not like that.” Says it all, doesn’t it?
Services: Your call will be answered by Nigel or Corrinne. Yes, this is a real family business and Nigel has several family members working with him. He will look after you throughout and, a really nice, unusual touch, this, will drive you home after the funeral. Yes to home visit. Yes to coming in and dressing the person who has died. Happy to be a consultant to home funeralists. Same sex person to lay out the person who has died if you wish. Nigel is a believer in embalming because he feels it will improve your experience of visiting the person who has died. He will ask you first and, if you don’t want it, he won’t mind at all.
Remarks: Nigel and Corrinne are lifelong members of this community. Nigel offers excellent service and is a very nice person to deal with. This is a caring family business that gives outstanding value for money.

Nigel and Corrinne were fantastic to deal with after my fathers passing last year. Nigel was prompt, professional, put my mother at ease and helped us all along the way. His daughter Corrinne was great helping us with the order of service and dealing with the general issues. Nigel kept us informed all along the way and was so very warm and friendly. He treated my father like he had known him in life, treating him with the utmost dignity and respect. Thank you
