Andrew Johnson Funeral Services
Address: 156 Plumstead Common Road, Plumstead, London. SE18 2UL
Andrew hasn't always been a funeral director, but he's felt drawn to being one ever since he worked for one when he was a teenager. He set up his business in 2011 when he left the Army. He has a Masters degree in forensic psychology. When he's not working, Andrew is the proud and extremely busy father of three little girls. His wife Lisa shares his interests in film, fitness and food.
His premises are warm and welcoming. There's plenty of free parking round the back.
This is a short review. A fuller version will be available soon.
Tends towards the traditional, but will dress down if asked. He says, “Tradition is important, it offers a central foundation to what we do as people, family and communities.” As an ex-Army man, he knows how to run a smart funeral.
Your call will be answered by Andrew, and he will see the whole process through with you and be there for you on the day. Will recommend embalming if he thinks it advisable, but only if. He can arrange for a same sex funeral director to wash and dress the body if you like. And if you want to come in and do this yourself, he’ll support you, recognising how helpful it can be for the grieving process. If you would like to care for the person who has died at home, he will offer you all the help you need. He will visit you at home if you wish. Good secular celebrants on his books. After the funeral, pop in any time. Andrew is very keen to offer all the aftercare he can, and the kettle’s always on.
Utterly decent, straightforward, kind and honest. A very high degree of personal service from someone who knows how lucky he is to be doing this work.
