The GFG Team
As an eclectic team based all over the UK and operating on a shoestring budget, it’s our commitment to funerals that unites us.
Fran is a former award winning funeral director with many years experience of both funeral directing and managing natural burial grounds. Formerly a trustee of the Natural Death Centre Charity, Fran is now CEO of the Good Funeral Guide and oversees the GFG accreditation scheme, the gold standard for recommending funeral directors across the UK.
Editor & Head of Comms
Louise is the latest to join the team as Editor and courter of controversy. She’s a funeral celebrant and the founder of modern funeral service Poetic Endings. A fashionista in another life, she left the world of fashion and big brands to create funerals of relevance and meaning, as well as engaging the public with all matters of life, death and everything in-between.
If you’d like to write for the GFG blog, please email Louise to discuss.
Founder and Director
Charles is the founder of the GFG and one of the directors of the GFG CIC. He is the creator of this website and author of the book of the same title (available to grace your bookshelves here). As a campaigner for better funerals Charles likes to sing the praises of the many people in the funeral industry whose work goes largely unrecognised. He exposes bad practice too, of course, and is proud of the independence and freedom to say exactly what he thinks, however controversial.
John helps families to create meaningful and positively memorable funeral ceremonies in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast. He has worked in prisons in Perú, chef at BBC TV Centre, designed and delivered educational programmes for senior leaders across all sectors and knows a thing or two about business planning, customer service and managing complex projects. A former probation officer In London he sits as a magistrate in the adult criminal and family courts and adjudicates appeals in Crown Court. He is passionate about helping people get access to the information they need, when they need it, regarding funerals. He loves science fiction, Brompton cycling, animals, travel and all things spiritual.
