You would hope that those in charge of such things would make a condition of his parole that he never associates with anyone bereaved or in need of a funeral director. Surely such a thing is not impossible? People get injunctions or ASBO’s for a lot less than the crimes committed by this revolting individual. Let’s hope he stays away from anything funeral or ambulance related.

He’s banned from being a company director, but he can shimmy round that easily enough. If funeral service was regulated they’d be able to take his licence away…

Now, now! You shouldn’t say things like that in a public forum: you might be misinterpreted!

Could there also be wriggle room in a licence scheme Charles?

Note also that from June of this year companies are required to submit to Companies House an annual confirmation statement indicating People with Significant Control (PSC) within a company. See https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/confirmation-statement/confirmation-statement#people-with-significant-control-psc
Is this designed to identify ‘ghosts’ within a company? Will failure to give proper or no details of such persons result in serious consequences if/when found out?
Perhaps a licence scheme should have a similar requirement in respect of ‘ghost’ proprietors??

I think the easiest thing and one that I proposed to Government is that similar to the security industry, you must obtain a personal licence to practice any role within the funeral directing industry.

Doctor’s have to be registered to the GMB to have their membership number. Solicitors are registered with the Law Society.
How difficult would it be to have something similar for funeral directors?

Possibly not ‘difficult’.
And possibly not a good idea.

Are the Law Society and GMC self regulatory bodies?

Jan, I hope everyone can claim their money back before he spends it or moves it on, as at yesterday the money still hasn’t been paid, but he is due about £65,000. Good luck

Hi Jan, He has set up a new business called Trinity Funeral Homes in Wescliff on sea, he is trading as a funeral director now, and has recently done a very similar thing and got out of it again. Small claims court is useless has he has nothing in his name or has no assets.

Yes he is trading as a funeral director at trinity funeral homes, and up to his old tricks again, hes currently got a tag on his ankle and has just been to court for more fraudster antics only weeks ago.

He also runs an extension business called trinity medicare without a cqc licence, he will say he’s an attachment to another business owned by a Steven hurrell to try and bounce the fact he doesn’t own said cqc licence

This article from the Echo on the 28th May 2018 shows he’s still in the business. He ‘arranged’ my father’s funeral and it was an absolute travesty.

Hope people who had money taken by him fraudently, or whatever it was he did, claimed their money back through the small claims court. It’s nothing new people being disqualified as a director for something dodgy they did while a director but then being involved in another business during the disqualification- but not as director. If he is a director of this new business – look it up free on Companies House – while disqualified whoever has evidence of this should report it. Regulation of Funeral Directors won’t necessarily stop dodgy people doing dodgy things – dodgy people always find… Read more »

You cant claim your money back has he has nothing on his name, and has no assets. Small Claims court is expensive and Mark sees a loop hole in the system and plays on it. There is only one place for him.. HELL

I am so grateful for this forum without it we would of booked Trinity Funeral Homes for my sisters funeral yesterday completely oblivious to Mark/Richard Sages activities! We had a very close shave at a very distressing time! Thank you again!

Hello, we have had a funeral service with Mark only last week and this was dealt with professionally and it was very welcoming and as much as it shouldn’t be something we worry about when organising a funeral for a loved one we all have to and Trinity was affordable and offered help where they could. Previous comments left have unfortunately been driven by his past which is sad as it seems it has been attempted to start again after wrong doings which we all have. I just wanted to advise of positive feedback instead of just negative. (I do… Read more »
