The inhabitants of Lisvane, a village for very rich people near Cardiff, are up in arms. One of the villagers wants to build the mausoleum pictured above in memory of his late father. According to the unit of measurement favoured by the Daily Mail, the mausoleum will stand as high as three double-decker buses.

A straw poll of those working at the GFG-Batesville Tower, which is as high as 42 double-decker buses, finds 89% in favour.

Yes, I like. Why the hell not? What we need in this country (and indeed in Wales…why not) is more good old fashioned excentricity!

Fantastic !!! I’m all for beautiful a memorial that is there for our future generations. I love old crosses, achors, angels – but all im allowed now is rows and rows of plain polished granite lawn memorials.

I like it too – a magnificent folly! Why not indeed?

A hell of a lot less offensive than ‘shopping villages’ stretching as far as the eye can see.

They have been building some very large mausoleum’s in recent years at the world famous Brookwood cemetery, near Woking. Brookwood is of course, Grade 1 listed. I find them fascinating, and I approve. Despite that, I can’t say I think they are tasteful. They are certainly a display of wealth and we must assume love for family members who have died.
