If only this were an isolated case! Sadly, I don’t think it is.

That is just awful. I wouldn’t be surprised if the bad publicity costs them far more than £3,000

The loaded wagon trains are groaning out of Dorchester, Weymouth etc loaded with people over the age of 65 who realise they can’t necessarily give a month’s notice of their death. Who wants to live in a county where the authorities think they can apply a financial penalty for human mortality? Beyond belief. One could feel sorry for the Council if it were an isolated error, say, over the phone, because the adverse publicity will be dreadful – but it’s obviously policy. Written into T&Cs.
