Is this foul language appropriate on a funeral website.
Paul, this funeral website surveys all the many ways in which death and dying are treated in all media. Make of the film what you will — that’s why we posted it.
What has this film got to do with promoting the work of the GFG I wonder. It is gratuitous and in very bad taste. I think someone is losing the plot.
Foul language is not needed i agree, if this short film has any message its that there will be some people out there watching this and think is this what funeral directors really think about the public they are supposed to be supportive over, its disgusting, ive watched this with two friends who said why is this being shown at all on this site, they are not connected with the funeral business and thats who might be viewing this at this moment, take it off a.s.a.p please.
Mr.P.
I think someone needs their head read I cant believe this is on a GFG website .I certainly think this is inappropiate viewing and to have language like that is nothing more than disgusting. If i were looking for a FDand came across this I would be mortified
Mortified in deed, lol ?
You chaps obviously weren’t watching TV last year to get a hint of what goes on out there for real, every day. Racism, sexism, deception, foul language, I could go on. Far more shocking than what I suspect is a bunch of kids looking to make an attention grabbing end of year short.
An unpleasant, provocative little offering Charles, where do you find these things?
Hello, Rosie. At least I know that you are who you say you are; you don’t hide behind an internet moniker. To be honest, I’ve no idea where I found it. From what I have seen, it’s rubbish. How anyone could suppose that this is how FDs behave I don’t know. I posted it for the reason I gave earlier. I simply hold up a mirror to what’s going on. I don’t endorse what I post as a matter of course. In fact, I rarely offer my own opinion. The blog is not a hobbyhorse. I have offered to debate… Read more »
Oh, very good point you make, Rosie, about the televised goings on at Gillman’s. Far more shocking than anything I have ever managed to find for the blog.
If a member of the public was looking at The GFG to glean views and a referral to a reputable Funeral Director in their area and then viewed this video….I can imagine they would think the whole website and its editor a complete joke. The editor needs to consider what impression he is making by even giving this self-important offering space on his website.
But, then, we know all too well he’s not keen on “dignity”, “respect”,
“professionalism”- all qualities the public connect with traditional Funeral
Directors.
Simply not so, Carmilla. Sorry, but you are quite wrong. I have a very open mind on all things and a great respect for people of all views.
I’m baffled how commentators object to a bit of swearing with no mention of the violent murder of a young man at the end. That’s the only bit that made me wince.
However, I’m more baffled how commentators can object to it being one of many, diverse daily uploads on GFG. Of all the thought-provoking, positive and amusing posts that might stimulate healthy debate, you leap to criticise this inconsequential number.
It’s obvious GFG is not condoning it but just ‘putting a mirror up’ to what’s out there.
Get a fricking life!
You are wrong. The most shocking aspect of the film was that a Funeral Director was doing the murder. His thoughts about the general public were interesting but also perverse and a fair reflection of some of the peculiar attitudes some of your members have as they defend your actions.
I suspect Charles, that all the above are either the same person, or written on behalf of one person – the writing style seems all too familiar. I actually quite liked the film, but then I have a dark sense of humour! I thought it was rather a tongue-in-cheek look at the inner psyche of an FD on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Keep up the good work Charles. I for one enjoy all your posts, be they good, bad or just plain off-the-wall.
You are so clever aren’t you?
Why, yes. Thank you.
It isn’t a dark sense of humour you need to quite enjoy a film like that. I suspect you need to be some distance from reality in a far off land where human beings do not deserve to be treated with respect and dignity by professional people who are trustworthy and who recognize decent values in others without belittling them or laughing at them.
lol x x x
Censorship -in any form is to be discouraged. No doubt the ‘what goes around comes around’ post above this one could be deemed insensitive by some poor soul who (perhaps) recently buried a loved-one? However – my Dad wants to be buried precisely so that his redundant body can return to its basic components. If he gets to nourish a few plants as he decomposes – then all the better. You see ladies – we all see things in our own unique way.
No-one is saying all FDs are potty-mouthed serial killers. We all watch films about murderers who might be anything from a lawyer to a plumber and don’t tar all in these jobs with the same brush. We read hard news about child molesting priests and corrupt bankers and don’t jump to generalised conclusions. You’re getting hot under the collar about a silly short film that GFG shared for reasons of general interest, nothing more. GFG both supports and criticises the industry, but to claim it has it in for FDs is ludicrous. PS I’m talking as just a GFG reader… Read more »
