I imagine these two are among the 8,000 mummies in the Capuchin Catacombs in Palermo, Sicily, arranged in rooms according to their status: man or woman; priest or professional; child or adult – or the chamber for virgins. The Italian government outlawed mummification at the site in 1881. Certainly macabre when not saints visualised for the purpose of prayer for intercession.

Actually, a different church, Richard. But indistinguishable.
