Yup, mobile phone or good old-fashioned address book, deletion gives one a nasty little lurch – but maybe that’s all necessary and good, in due course? Or, if it feels right, why not leave it there as a little memorial, an occasional calling to mind?

From personal experience, it’s been more a case of never crossing out the deceased (electronically or actually), but when the next address book comes along, I haven’t put them into the new one, or phone, etc.

A metaphor for life moving on without them? Or just saving a bit of ink?

There’s all the difference between striking out and leaving behind, perhaps? (Yorkshire people do it to save the ink.)More a moving on that a sundering, anyway. Hmnn…

And how about that voice mail message from the deceased, taking up space on your memory?
